Because before Jean Reno, there was Juan Moreno, a child born in Casablanca to Andalusian parents whom Franco had expelled from Spain. At 17, he lost his mother, and this tragedy shattered the family. So Juan crossed the sea, arrived in France, changed his name, and set out in search of success. Fifteen years in the shadows of supporting roles never diminished his passion for acting until the day The Big Blue revealed him to the world. Then came Nikita, Léon… Then Hollywood. The mask became armor, and the armor, a legend. And yet, during lockdown, at over 70 years old, Jean Reno decided to drop the mask and reconnect with himself. He could begin to write.
