Robin Friday: vita spericolata

#robinfriday #reading #footballmystery With this episode, we conclude a trilogy of footballers who, for very different reasons, became world-famous without ever having played on the most prestigious pitches. After the episodes dedicated to "Kaiser" Raposo, who managed to fool everyone by building a fictitious career, and "Trinche" Carlovich, considered the best by the greatest Argentine footballers (by the way, we invite you to catch up on those episodes if you haven't seen them yet), this time we move to England. And we focus on a player considered a legend of genius and recklessness, who wanted to play by his own rules: this time, we tell you about the reckless life of Robin Friday. The initial setting is the suburbs around Heathrow Airport, London: the neighborhood is called Acton, the year is 1962. Robin Friday is one of the many kids from local working-class families: he plays football in the street with his twin brother Tony and his friends, and his skills immediately stand out. Above all, his ball control is phenomenal for a 10-year-old; he can do tricks with an orange, let alone a football. London clubs begin to compete for him: first Crystal Palace arrives, then Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea try to secure Robin's future with their jerseys. But at just 15, it's clear that something is already amiss. Robin loves partying more than football, for which he demonstrates an aptitude that boys his age can only dream of. Driving team managers as crazy as his opponents on the pitch, in 1967, not yet 16, he was on the bench at Wembley with Chelsea in the FA Cup final against Tottenham. Robin Friday couldn't have known it, but that would be the day he got closest to playing football at the highest level. Watch the video to find out the rest of the story!
