One year since its inauguration on June 23, 2021, Halmahera Persada Lygend, under the auspices of Harita Nickel, has successfully demonstrated to the world that Indonesia is capable of producing raw materials for electric vehicle batteries. This first High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) technology plant in Indonesia has produced 188,600 WMT of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) during its first year of operation. This MHP is then further processed into Nickel Sulfate (NiSO4) and Cobalt Sulfate (CoSO4). All of these products are used as raw materials for electric vehicle batteries. This innovation is considered innovative because HPAL technology can transform previously unused low-grade nickel limonite into a product of economic and strategic value for Indonesia.
