The Legend of the Cuero - Cryptids of Chile | Cryptozoology Since time immemorial, the tranquil waters of the rivers and lakes of Chile and Argentina have been the setting for terrifying stories. Locals speak of a strange aquatic creature, flat in appearance, a man-eating beast that violently attacks, dragging its prey to the depths of the lakes, then sucking their blood until they are lifeless… This creature would be known as the Cuero: the terror of Patagonia. Chile, a country located at the southern tip of South America, is known for its beautiful landscapes, its rich history, and in particular, for the presence of the Mapuche people, who are the most numerous indigenous group in Chile and Argentina, also known as Araucanians. Their roots date back to the 5th century in this region of South America. For centuries, this people has generated a great number of myths, traditions, and legends that to this day form an important part of the region's cultural heritage. Among these fantastic stories, one terrifying legend stands out, which tells of a fearsome aquatic beast popularly known as the Cuero (Leather). This creature, deeply rooted in ancient traditions, was especially feared by those who lived near rivers and lakes. The Cuero, according to Mapuche beliefs, is an aquatic being of malevolent nature. It is said to have emerged from the torment of skinned cattle and that, over time, it transforms into a cowhide that comes to life. Some versions of the legend even mention that it has the ability to transform into a kind of flying serpent. #cryptids #cryptozoology #mystery #creepynauts #bigfoot #elcuero #cuero #cryptid #thelegendofelcuero CreepyNauta, join our community!
