It might be a very small thing for a lot of people, but this small thing has a very big impact on how the hook travels and ultimately, on how the hook acts on contact with the fish. This small adjustment is a major factor in hooking percentage. The hook's origin of pull is the driving force behind the hook's purchase of the fish's mouth - it can alter the trajectory by switching which side of the hook the origin of the force is, and this is exactly why for assist hooks in particular, you have to be careful of the placement of the line where the origin of pull if going to be.
