Regreso a mis RAÍCES en LAS CAHERUELAS: en autocaravana 🏔️

Hello, friends of Two Retirees on the Road! Welcome to one of the most special, emotional, and personal videos on our entire channel. Today we're lacing up our boots for a challenging family hike along the historic Las Escalerillas trail and the Llano de los Arrieros, descending to the wild and prehistoric source of the Chivato Gorge. Joining us on this adventure are a very dear couple: Ana Mari's brother and his wife! But this isn't just any hiking route. For me, Pedro, this trip is a direct return to my roots: 👉 I was born right here, the eldest of my siblings, when my parents married and lived in this old mountain village. 👉 We're returning to the source of the Chivato after a 50-year wait, since we first saw it as youngsters, and Ana Mari is discovering it for the first time, completely awestruck. 👉 We pay tribute to our 14 cousins who love these mountains so much, sharing photos from our hikes. We also delve into the historical memory of this natural environment located between Ojén and El Pedregoso. We tell you how these narrow gorges served as a refuge for extreme survival for those fleeing during the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period, and we share a poignant testimony from my grandmother Isabel, illustrated with old and previously unseen photographs from that time (my grandparents, aunts, and uncles on horseback). A video full of spectacular landscapes, reunions, emotion, and lots of family history that you can't miss!
