Free Play Friday - Clutch Hitter, Oakland vs. Baltimore

Starting something new - Free Play Friday. Where I find an arcade game I'm interested in and play thru it. Today's choice is Clutch Hitter, a baseball game produced by Sega in 1991 that was endorsed by the MLBPA, not the MLB. It's interesting how that works. The Major League Baseball Players Association, has control over likeness of the players unless they opt out (See Barry Bonds), but Major League Baseball, has control over team names and their respective likeness. So this game will have the city names with the proper team colors without mentioning the team name in the slightest. There were a bunch of games like that back in the 1990s that came out in the states. Unlike Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, that game is endorsed by the MLB, Not the MLBPA. Back to Clutch Hitter, produced by Sega, coming off their production of M.V.P. (1987), another arcade baseball game that played similar, produced a baseball game that was easy to pick up and play - along with taking your quarters. The Japanese version of Clutch Hitter had Nippon Professional Baseball Teams and players. Fun fact, M.V.P. was the basis for the Sega Genesis title, Tommy Lasorda Baseball, another baseball game that may make it on the channel.
