Bausatzbesprechung: Ryefield Model Panzer III Ausf. J im Maßstab 1/35

Please activate the English subtitles if you do not understand German. After a few years, where the kit manufacturers mostly dealt with Tigers and Panthers, it seems like it is Panzer III season now! Since last year a bunch of Panzer III kits by several kit brands have hit the market and of course it is just right to have a closer look at them here. The Panzer III J kit by Ryefield Model was released in 2020, since then they also made a full interior version of the same kit. The kit parts seem to be all correct and nicely made, flash, sinkmarks and other blemishes can´t be seen anywhere. Some parts lack a bit of surface texture, but this is easy to fix with a bit of Mr. Surfacer liquid filler, if you care for that. The workable tracks, made out of individual track links and plastic pins, are not really matching my own taste, but i think i will give them another try and see whether i still don´t like this style of tracks? At least the track links are very nicely made and only require minimal clean-up. The kit also includes clear parts for the optics and photo-etched parts, mostly for the air intake grills. The one piece gun barrel with rifling is made out of plastic and can be used without hesitation, we actually don´t have to buy any aftermarkets for this kit at all. The only little weak point of the kit are the instructions in my opinion. They are mostly clearly arranged, although not entirely, but the four painting and marking options of the kit come without any additional information, like when it was used, which unit used it and where it saw service. In addition we only find information on Ammo paints and even (unnecessary) recommendations for weathering products by Ammo. I hope this not the new standard for the future. Anyway, i am convinced by this kit and with a price tag of about 40€ you don´t do anything wrong. In comparison to other kit brands out there, if we look at the quality and the scope of delivery, one might actually call this some sort of bargain.
