Workshop dust extractor Felder AF-16 Setup, assembly & performance…

#workshoptips #organised #tidy #felder We’ve recently bought a new extractor for our panel saw. Not quite finished setting up the machine as I’d like to add a switch which turns the saw and extractor on at the same time. The top filter is actually an extra component which is worth getting for fine filtration. We’ve had previous lower quality extractors which just don’t do the job and always have ridiculous contraptions for replacing the dust bag. This one however is far superior. Very powerful and quite loud. The unit itself is neat and tidy. I like the minimalist design which blends in well with the workshop and doesn’t take much space up either. You can just tell it’s a good quality product. We don’t often use a scribing blade and you may have noticed we’ve wedged ply in the plastic hood to concentrate suction over the main blade. Saw blades are prone to catching the plastic but now the wedges prevent that happening. A new plastic hood will set you back a couple of hundred pounds so it’s worth trying that. The only improvement I’d make is that the Y section arms for connecting the pipes could be more extruded for easier fastening of the pipe ends. The instructions were a little vague too but I managed to understand and follow them. I’m sure there are other good extractors on the market. This one is good value for money, powerful, contemporary and what sold it to us was the easy bag release which finally someone thought about for once! I believe FELDER make larger extractors if you want to connect more machines however thie AF-16 is ideal for us. FELDER also manufacture panel saws, CNC machines and many other machines.
