In 2009, he was awarded 2nd prize at the highly prestigious Parkening International Guitar Competition in the USA, where Soundboard magazine described him as an '18 year-old phenom'. A respected teacher, he joined the guitar faculty of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at just 21. In this video, Ian opens one of a series of concerts he gave in Spain in the summer of 2014, organised by CaminoArtes. The audience is made up mainly of pilgrims who have stopped for the night on their journey to Santiago de Compostela. The concert - held in the exquisite Romanesque church of Santa Maria del Camino - preceded the evening Mass celebrating the feast of the Assumption.
