The miracle of the ranch that spans life and death: an epic adventure of love, courage and freedom

Faraway Downs is a television series directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. It premiered on November 26, 2023. The series is a re-edited version of the 2008 film Australia, and is divided into six episodes of about 38 minutes each. The story is set in northern Australia on the eve of the war. British aristocrat Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman) inherits a piece of land called Faraway Downs. To save the ranch, she teams up with Drover (Hugh Jackman), a rough-around-the-edges cattleman, to drive the cattle north to the northern cattle stations. In the process, they not only face the challenges of the natural environment, but also the threats of social unrest and war. At the same time, they gradually build up an uneasy emotional connection, while also revealing the history and culture of Australia's indigenous inhabitants. The series presents a brand new ending by re-editing the original film material, and a modern soundtrack gives the story new life.
