Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School performs on Saturday April 11, 2026 at the Tucson Folk Festival on the Plaza Stage at Jácome Plaza. Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School, founded in 1992 by Richard Carranza, is a celebrated student ensemble from Tucson, Arizona. Under the direction of John Contreras for 18 years, the group has earned recognition including the Governor’s Arts Award in Arts in Education. Comprised of dedicated students ages 14 to 18, Mariachi Aztlán performs traditional mariachi music and has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Pink Martini, Rufus Wainwright III, Calexico, and Rita Moreno. This annual family-friendly festival is held in some of the most historic sections of Downtown Tucson.
