This Hotel Across From A FIFA Stadium Had ZERO Bookings And The Owner Slashed His Prices

So something is quietly happening in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the specific numbers being reported right now tell a very different story than what the hype machine has been selling. A hotel director in Hollywood just went on the record saying their property is only 37 percent booked for the World Cup months. Not close to sold out. Not 70 percent. 37 percent. And just outside New York City right next to MetLife Stadium, a hotel owner who renovated his entire property specifically for this tournament told reporters he had zero bookings when he launched at $1,400 a night with four-night minimums. Zero. He eventually slashed prices and dropped the minimums and is now sitting at just over 50 percent booked for World Cup nights. Which is still not great for a property literally yards from a venue hosting World Cup matches. This is not just happening in LA and New York. New data from CoStar shows hotel demand across American host cities including Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, and Philadelphia is running about 12 percent below where it should be for an event of this scale. Nearly 80 percent of hotel operators in some markets are reporting bookings below expectations. Five million tickets have been sold for this World Cup. But the hotel bookings are telling a completely different story about what fans are actually able and willing to spend when they factor in room prices, travel costs, geopolitical friction, and the general cost of attending this event in the United States right now. Whether this turns around in the next 30 days before the tournament kicks off is the real question. Drop your thoughts below. I want to know what you think is driving this and whether you think those empty rooms eventually fill up. e-7146 (Foreign affairs) ourcommons.ca Petition https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/e... e-7319 (Foreign affairs) https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/e... e-7340 (Foreign affairs) https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/e...
