The Maid from Castlefore
On the "Leitrim Larks" 2024 Song Tour which took place during Heritage Week, we stopped off at this lovely amenity and got to admire the views around Castlefore Lake. From the 1400s this area was home to the O' Duigenan family who were famed historians involved in writing the Annals and it was also home to the O' Boy family, one - William - who wrote this ballad over a hundred years ago in praise of the maid from Castlefore.
