June 2026 Research Workgroup - Telehealth-Integrated Street Medicine for Unhoused Populations

In this session, Dr. Cristin Swords Adams and Dr. Sarah Marrison from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) share their work developing and evaluating a community-based telehealth and street medicine program for people experiencing homelessness (PEH) in Charleston, SC. Dr. Adams and Dr. Marrison discuss how video visits, tele-precepting, and asynchronous care models can help break down the barriers that prevent unhoused individuals from accessing consistent medical care. The session covers patient and provider perspectives on telehealth, the importance of multidisciplinary teams and community partnerships, and the real-world challenges of building programs that are both effective and sustainable.
