1988 Aston Martin V8 Efi, Nicholas Mee & Company, Aston Martin Specialists
Finished in Chichester Blue with Parchment hide piped Dark Blue and Blue carpets. Fitted with Vantage specification 16’’ wheels and Michelin Pilot sport tyres, Harvey Bailey front anti roll bar and complete with a Nardi wood rim steering wheel. In a single-family ownership for 34 years, prior to being purchased, prepared and sold by ourselves in 2024. Due to the last owners unexpected relocation overseas, we are delighted to offer this rare and late model AM V8 Efi, equipped with the user friendly and fuel efficient, *electronic fuel injected V8 engine. Coupled to the standard equipment automatic transmission, the V8 Efi model benefits from all of the refinements and improvements, developed and introduced over the AM V8’s 15-year production cycle, ending in 1989. Signed off production and delivered to its first owner in August 1988, the AM V8 Efi ceased production after just 59 examples had been built, of which just 42 were produced in RHD. Of the 42 produced, the example we are offering is one of the 13 produced, in the highly attractive and period popular colour choice of Chichester Blue. Purchased when 2 years old, by a long-standing NM&Co customer and multiple owning Aston Martin enthusiast, this outstanding AM V8 Efi has been continually maintained by Aston Martin agents and specialists from new. More recently in 2015, at the owner’s request NM&Co were commissioned to carry out an extensive refurbishment programme of restorative works to the chassis, body and paintwork, along with a mechanical overhaul and fitment of established upgrades. The extensive works carried out, included rebuilds to the front and rear suspension, the fitment of an uprated front anti roll bar and factory supplied, 16’’ Ronal Vantage type road wheels shod with new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, an overhaul of the braking and steering systems and rectification to all items found to be requiring attention. A major service was also carried out and the completed car, delivered toward the end of 2017. The total expenditure on the restorative works being in excess of £70,000. Since the comprehensive works completion, this excellent driving example has covered just 3,500 miles, driven only in fair weather conditions and been kept in ideal garaging, when not in use. Complete with a comprehensive history file and invoices for the restorative works, the originally supplied owner’s handbook, fully stamped original service voucher book and all of its originally equipment, including the original vehicle tool roll, jack and warning triangle. This superior quality example of the AM V8 Efi, the last manifestation of the AM V8 model is supplied to its next owner, inclusive of a fresh service to the manufacturers service schedule, a multi-point vehicle health check report, 12 months warranty, MoT certificate, spare keys and introductory 12-month membership of the Aston Martin Owners Club. Available for viewing and demonstration now at our Hertfordshire showrooms. *The V8 Efi Engine – Background Engineered to meet lower emission standards, whilst developing additional power and torque with enhanced fuel efficiency than earlier standard specification carburettor equipped V8 engines. The Electronic fuel injection equipped V8 engine was the first Aston Martin engine, built with the application of Cad/Cam, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture of cylinder heads and engine blocks. Giving improved uniformity and smaller manufacturing tolerances, both being required for the successful use of an optimised Electronic fuel injection system. With smoother power delivery and with optimised fuel economy, the EFi equipped V8 engine, powered all Aston Martin production cars, other than Vantage variants, from January 1986 onward to the ending of AM V8 production, toward the end of 1989. Largely unchanged in other key areas, the late model AM V8 Efi is easily identified, by having a lower and elegant styled bonnet line than earlier V8’s, giving improved forward visibility for the driver and passengers.
