Today (June 14th) was the ultimate test of 'Sardine Fever' on the KZN South Coast! It started early with the usual chasing of rumors and scanning the horizon. Then, the action kicked off... First, boats geared up to launch at St. Michael’s Beach, but nature had other plans. They quickly came back around, and the vehicle convoy rushed off toward Shelly Beach. We followed the chase! 🚗💨 When we got to Shelly, the nets went into the water. It was an absolute battle against Mother Nature,a massive swell pushing a net full of sardines directly onto the rocks. Hundreds of people lined the shoreline, buckets in hand, hoping to grab a sardine or two. But in the end? An empty net tangled in the rocks. 💔 But you know what? That is the exact essence of the Sardine Run. It’s hours of beach-hopping, endless anticipation, and pure adrenaline. Today showed just how a tiny silver fish can make hundreds of people rush around the coastline at a moment's notice! The reason I love this annual spectacle isn't just about the fish,it's the atmosphere, the camaraderie, and the incredible sight of humans and nature colliding.
