FLYING THE CIRRUS G7 to Wyoming

In May 2025, my friend Harry invited me to join him on the first long cross-country flight in his new Cirrus SR22T G7. Harry, a longtime pilot with a deep passion for aviation, had recently sold his Citation CJ3 and was eager to explore the capabilities of his new aircraft. Our destination, Alpine, Wyoming, is home to what might be the most beautiful airpark in the world. Nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by towering mountains and pristine lakes, Harry owns a home and hangar there, perfectly positioned to take in the stunning vistas and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow aviation enthusiasts. Flying over some of the most stunning desert and mountain landscapes in the country, the trip to Alpine took nearly 12 hours. We faced strong headwinds and had to reroute significantly south toward New Mexico to avoid bad weather, which added adventure to the experience.
