4 TROPICAL SPHINX MOTH SPECIES AT MY BLACK LIGHT THE GENUS ERINNYIS IN THE FLORIDA KEYS

On a night in July 2022 with UV and black lights up in the tropical hardwood hammocks of North Key Largo, Florida, we found all 4 species of Erinnyis sphinx moths that live in the Florida Keys. Erinnyis ello, Erinnyis alope, Erinnyis obscura and Phryxus caicus. This short video has some great footage of this tropical genus of sphingid moth. We love surveying butterflies and moths of the Keys and our checklist of species has grown to over 700!
