Kwantung - Russia's Forgotten Outpost in China 🇨🇳

In this video, I explore Russian heritage of the former Kwantung Leased Terriotry - a strategically important region in Southern Manchuria. At the end of the 19th century, this territory was leased by Qing China to the Russian Empire, allowing Russia to build ports, railways, fortifications, and entire cities. After the Russo-Japanese War, control over the Kwantung Leased Territory passed to Japan, and later it was incorporated into the People’s Republic of China. As political powers changed, much of the Russian-built infrastructure lost its original purpose. Today, these forts, barracks, and buildings remain scattered across the landscape. This video is an attempt to document and understand this layered history by physically exploring what is left of Russia’s presence in China.
