War on Drugs Harmonia's Dream Live in Newport: Perfect soundtrack to people's lives. July 27, 2024

This isn't a typical concert video. Its really more a contextual exercise in how music is integral to human experience. People move about the Newport Folk festival in their concert regalia, while the soundtrack to their lives, which is beyond their direct control, plays in real time behind them. We weren't able to find a good seat to actually view the band, and there weren't a lot of people walking around when we sat down, but then people came out of woodwork right into my frame.. this view ended up being a lot more interesting to me than a great view of the band as the song kept going. There is an authenticity to the people moving through this few minutes of life, being randomly captured as part of a larger experience. This song is not one of the band's more popular songs, but it does provide a fitting backing track for the action playing out in front of me as I sat enveloped in the music with a non-stop stream of humanity being organically laid out in front of me. I was resigned to just keep filming and see how it turned out. The lyrics and music were perfect partners to the visuals.
