【廃村】ダム計画により廃村となった「悲哀の集落」 - 永谷集落 #廃集落 #廃村 #集落
Nagatani Village, Nadasho, Oi Town, Oi District, Fukui Prefecture Nagatani Village was the final stop on our five-day trip to Kyoto. This village was once home to nine households, but around 1965, Kansai Electric Power Company planned the construction of a pumped-storage power plant, said to be the largest in the country, straddling both Kyoto and Fukui prefectures. The village was eventually submerged and forced to evacuation, resulting in the village becoming abandoned. At the time, the villagers were divided into supporters and opponents, and conflict arose among residents. Four of the nine households strongly opposed the project, mounting protests by putting up signs and other means. However, the lone man who remained opposed to the project until the end left the village in 1985. Subsequently, the Kyoto side (Ashiu district), home to the Ashiu Primeval Forest, and Kyoto University, which leases the forest, had been vehemently opposed the dam construction plan since its inception, and their positions remained unchanged. As a result, the dam construction plan was canceled in 2005. Residents who have already left have not returned, and the buildings remain to this day. Although it has since been removed, a sign reading "We are absolutely opposed to KEPCO, which will divide our community," was previously posted on a house on the opposite bank. 00:00 Start 01:40 Walk to the village 04:18 Arrive at the village 08:48 Temple/Shrine 12:21 Continue 15:28 Head to the opposite bank 18:08 House on the opposite bank
