Thanks to it, under normal conditions, the threat is eliminated, the repair process is completed, and anti-inflammatory processes are activated to minimize damage. This is known as acute inflammation, and it is necessary. However, the problem arises when this process, for various reasons, remains constantly active and becomes chronic. In this case, the swelling and redness characteristic of acute inflammation cease, but the system remains in a constant state of alert. This type of long-term inflammation is known in the healthcare field as low-grade inflammation. It is a constant, chronic, and silent inflammation that is terribly harmful, and an anti-inflammatory diet plays an important role in managing it. In this first webinar, we'll discuss the basics of the anti-inflammatory diet, fundamental for resolving acute inflammation and preventing chronic inflammation. What we eat can play a positive, but also a negative, role in controlling chronic inflammation. When we eat, the foods we choose to put into our bodies can fight inflammation (anti-inflammatory) or trigger an inflammatory response (pro-inflammatory). In this sense, we actually have control over how we manage inflammation. The anti-inflammatory diet is based on these principles: prioritizing foods that help our body fight inflammation (anti-inflammatory), especially those rich in antioxidants, and avoiding all those that cause, maintain, or worsen an inflammatory process, increasing markers of systemic inflammation. 🔵Instructor: Marta Alonso Almena.
