You control Captain Olimar in third person, in a game where you must control cute creatures called Pikmin. There are three types of Pikmin: Red Pikmin: They have pointy noses, are fire-resistant, and are the most effective in combat. You find them in Impact Site. Yellow Pikmin: They have large ears, can be thrown higher than the others, and are capable of wielding bomb-rocks. You find them in Hope Forest. Blue Pikmin: They have gills and can enter the water without drowning, unlike the other Pikmin. You can find them in the Navel of the Forest, and they can save other Pikmin that are drowning. Our adventure begins when Captain Olimar, originally from Hocotate, is on vacation aboard his ship, the Dolphin. During his interstellar journey, his ship collides with a meteorite. Olimar is knocked unconscious and awakens on a strange planet, believed to be Earth millions of years after the extinction of humanity. There, he knows nothing, except for one not-so-good fact: the planet is filled with a gas poisonous to him: oxygen. He must leave the planet in 30 days, as this is the time his spacesuit allows him to filter the "dangerous" gas. To escape, he will have to find the 30 pieces of his ship scattered across a 1 square kilometer, with the help of the Pikmin, some very friendly creatures that will help him during the adventure.
