Despite relative improvement in some key economic indicators in Morocco, employment remains the weakest link in the development equation. In this context, the Moroccan government announced a national employment roadmap aiming to reduce unemployment to nine percent and create one million jobs, in addition to 450,000 jobs by 2030. A grand ambition, but is it realistic? And are the economic and institutional conditions in place to achieve it? In this episode, we host Tayeb Ghazi, an economics researcher and one of the authors of the paper that evaluated the roadmap, to discuss the seriousness of the figures, the nature of the proposed scenarios, the obstacles to women's inclusion, and the urgent reform priorities for transforming the employment reality in Morocco.
