ÉL ULTIMO TÉ | La historia que nació en el Toubkal tras el terremoto
The Toubkal record project after the Marrakech earthquake: a true story of mountaineering, adventure and solidarity. After completing the 3000s of Sierra Nevada in 2022 • NICO MOLINA | 3000s de Sierra Nevada _, our project #FromSierraNevadaToTheWorld began, with its first destination being Toubkal (4,167m) in Morocco. A story that was born on Toubkal after the Marrakech earthquake. This documentary tells a real story that unfolds over two years, between 2023 and 2024. What began as a sports project ended up becoming a deeply human and solidarity-driven journey, marked by one of the largest earthquakes in Morocco’s history. In September 2023 we traveled to the Atlas with a clear goal: to attempt a record on Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. We were a group of friends, full of excitement, discovering Marrakech, Imlil and Berber culture, sharing tea, laughter and dreams before the big day. The night before the attempt, at 11:12 p.m., everything changed. An earthquake shook the mountains, destroyed entire villages and left thousands of victims. We found ourselves trapped, cut off from communication, surrounded by landslides, aftershocks and fear. That night we learned how fragile everything is… and how strong the bond between people who barely know each other can be. We witnessed pain, but also a generosity impossible to forget. Families who had lost everything gave us food, water and shelter. People who became friends: Said, Omar, Radouane… names that are now part of our lives. We returned to Spain without having summited Toubkal, but with a clear responsibility: to help. A year later, we went back to Morocco. Not to chase a time. Not to break a record. But to give back a little of everything we had received. With the help of IES Alonso Cano and its solidarity race, we brought aid to the most affected villages, spent days with families, ran again through those mountains, and closed the story as it deserved to be closed: reaching Toubkal, yes, but celebrating something far more important than a summit. This is not about running faster. It’s about being alive. About returning. About sharing the last tea. Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing this story. #FromSierraNevadaToTheWorld #Toubkal #Marrakech #Documentary #Solidarity
