Good luck for the"Pagliacci" premiere at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich with Jonas Kaufmann as Canio (on May 22nd, 29th, June 1st, 4th, 8th, July 9th, 12th) in a new production by Francesco Micheli, with Daniele Rustioni as musical director. To get you in the mood for this premiere, here's an excerpt from the Vienna production of R. Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci" 10 years ago at the Salzburg Easter Festival with Jonas Kaufmann as Canio. It was an outstanding operatic highlight at the time, with fantastic voices and an outstanding production by director Philipp Stölzl.
