How the Plateau Rate Shifts a Gas Field's Fall-Off Date

When a gas field runs on a plateau, the fall-off date depends on the depletion state, not the calendar. Cumulative production sets how far the reservoir has drawn down, and fall-off arrives once that drawdown reaches the point where deliverability can no longer beat the plateau rate. Lower the plateau and that point moves out in time, sometimes by years. Hold a field back and it depletes more slowly, reaching any given pressure later.
