The Tevis Ed Ride for 2025

Erin McChesney describes what the rider needs to accomplish in order to be at the start line of the Tevis Cup Ride. The Tevis Cup Ride is the premier 100 mile Endurance Ride that crosses the Sierra mountains from Robie Park (East of Olympic Valley) to Auburn, California. Auburn is recognized as the Endurance Capitol of the world, hosting both the Ride and the 100 Mile Endurance RUN. Using the same Western States Trail, both events occur about a month apart every summer. Both have become international events known throughout the world. Lori Stewart, herself a rider, is responsible for putting together the "Ed Ride" each year before the actutal event which is to introduce new riders to the challenges of the trail. Due to the high elevation gain and elevation decline, wild temperature swings (from freezing and snow to over 100 degrees in the canyons (both on the same day) is what makes this event both world class and the most difficult to finish.
