Rafael Hernández Colón y el "Español que Hablamos"

The International Congress of the Spanish Language was held in Puerto Rico for the first time from March 15 to 18, 2016. Representatives from 24 countries, as well as the presence of two Nobel laureates, highlighted the work of this triennial event, which became an important forum for reflection on the role of Spanish in contemporary society, its difficulties and challenges both globally and in Puerto Rico. The celebration of this event on the island also coincided with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the awarding of the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature to the Puerto Rican people for their defense of the Spanish language. We commemorate this moment in our history with an interview with former Governor Rafael Hernández Colón, who accepted the award on behalf of the people of Puerto Rico. Twenty-five years after receiving this recognition, what are the greatest challenges facing Spanish in Puerto Rico? How has it transformed under the influence of English? Would you again try to establish Spanish as the sole official language of the island? These are some of the questions answered in the interview with former Governor Rafael Hernández Colón as part of the special program “The Spanish We Speak?” VISIT OUR WEBSITE: http://www.wipr.pr SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c...
