EL REY que NADIE quería | Amadeo I de España

In 1870, after the Gloriosa revolution and the fall of Isabella II, the Cortes elected Amadeo of Savoy as the new king of Spain. He was young, a foreigner, and promised neutrality. But from the first day everything worked against him: the assassination of Prim, his main supporter, left his reign mortally wounded. In just three years, he suffered opposition from nobles, politicians, and the Church, smear campaigns in the press, strikes, Carlist Wars, and even assassinations. His wife, María Victoria dal Pozzo, was also scorned by high society in the so-called "Mantilla Rebellion." Tired and ill, Amadeo of Spain abdicated in 1873 and returned to Italy. His brief time on the throne is a reflection of how difficult it has always been to govern this country. 📌 Subscribe for more stories from the history of Spain. ⏱️ Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:53 - Background 02:18 - Why a Savoy? 03:52 - Amadeo's Story 05:06 - Voting and Arrival in Spain 07:10 - Reign 07:39 - Conflicts with the Church 08:28 - The Satirical Press 09:43 - The Anarchists 11:28 - His Private Life 13:57 - The Queen of the Washerwomen 18:03 - Abdication 19:32 - Return to Italy #history #spain #amadeoofspain #savoy #monarchy #kings #glorious
