Sam Shamoun Shamounian Halal hogan explains to christians in bible study what Jesus meant in John 14:28 by The Father is greater than i (explanation) Muslims often try to bring this up to christians and say its a gotcha moment in the bible in the book of john because they assume that Jesus is saying that the father is greater in everything when it comes to him when thats not the case according to the context . What jesus means by greater according to the greek is is that the father is greater than Jesus by status because since he took on flesh and was on earth and became the son God incarnate the father was in heaven on the throne so that when Jesus would return back to his real kingdom there would be no one greater than him . Here not only does it prove Jesus is God but also the same essence as the father because they are one in union as One God not two seperate Gods with two essences . So why becoming the Son of course the father would be greater than him by title and status but by essence they share the same one they have same power, mind , will , knowledge . Just because your father is greater than you in status doesnt mean that youre not human.
