SKATING COMPETITION SHOULD BE INTRODUCED TO SCHOOLS COMPETITION GOVERNMENT URGED

Early Bird Primary School have emerged winners in the Schools skating championship held in Machakos County Addressing the press during the awarding ceremony,Early Bird primary School coach Mr. Stephen Kioko said the teams won Trophy and several medals encouraging students to pursue extracurricular activities in which they have comparative advantage. Kioko added that Ministry of Education should chip and support Skating and make it a sport like any schools.With such supports the government can help build skating rings which can accommodate more that 1000 kids. He also said that skating should not be feared as many views it as a dangerous sport associated with injuries, but that wasn't the case. "With the standard of skating displayed by the skaters today, it has become apparent that skating will soon surpass other disciplines which have earned the county acclaim nationally and internationally," he said Mr. Kioko noted that their main objective is on child development in the four areas of domain; physical, socio-emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth. “This is one way of supporting children in education, talent development, and spiritual nourishment,” said Kioko. The Makueni school was position two, then Kitengela International School position three. Other schools that participated are Mt Sinai Primary syokimau,Kitengela international Athiriver, and Kitengela international syokimau. This was the first competition for Primary schools in Machakos Skating is becoming a popular sport in Ukambani region with a sizeable number of sponsors chipping in to help the youths venturing into the sport.
