5 Reasons Why I Love My Seiko 5 | SNK803 Automatic Field Watch | Beige Dial
The Seiko 5 is often venerated among watch enthusiasts and collectors alike. It's said to be the gateway into the world of mechanical watches. And while I don't consider myself a watch guy, I've owned this watch for 5 years now. In fact, this Seiko 5 was my first automatic watch. - - - - - - - - - - - ⬇️ SHOP THE WATCHES ⬇️ • Seiko 5 SNK803 - https://amzn.to/2LcBOXG • Seiko 5 SNK805 - https://amzn.to/2KQATQy • Seiko 5 SNK807 - https://amzn.to/2uiTTwN • Seiko 5 SNK809 - https://amzn.to/2LcBOXG • Barton Watch Strap - https://amzn.to/2HYYpIr • Cheapest Nato Straps - http://bit.ly/2vGaB7q (15% off w/code GentlemanWithin15) -- ➢Become a GW Insider (it’s free!) → http://bit.ly/35gPNFa ➢Get my skin care routine plus a bonus gift at http://www.tiege.com/gentlemanwithin - - - - - - - - - - - ✖Exclusive Stuff ➢‘I Am A Gentleman’ Manifesto → http://bit.ly/2vQewP5 ➢A Crash Course to Better Style → http://bit.ly/2nFUSS1 ➢Gentlemen Within Community → http://bit.ly/2wYuH1n Get my skin care routine for 20% off at http://www.tiege.com/gentlemanwithin - - - - - - - - - - - ✖Let's Connect I N S T A G R A M: http://bit.ly/2kyHgI9 F A C E B O O K: http://bit.ly/2F0UbiL T W I T T E R: http://bit.ly/2F2On7v P I N T E R E S T: http://bit.ly/2SQwUTV W E B S I T E: http://bit.ly/2M6erAp S N A P C H A T: khoiii - - - - - - - - - - - OTHER WATCH REVIEWS: • The $10 Legend: Casio F-91W Review: http://bit.ly/2N3RNLM • 5 Reasons Why I Love My Seiko 5: http://bit.ly/2zMq8tn • Seiko 5 SNK803 Review (Beige Dial): http://bit.ly/2MfXLsp • Paul Rich Review: http://bit.ly/2ozRVrr • Filippo Loreti Review: http://bit.ly/2MUeBea • Jord Watches Review: http://bit.ly/2CbQ8yX • Watch Gang Review: http://bit.ly/2rGtvL2 - - - - - - - - - - - REASON #1: VERSATILE My summer style is quite minimal, but you'll always find me with a watch on my wrist, usually with some sort of canvas or nato strap. The SNK803's default cream canvas strap is quite hideous when paired with the beige dial in my opinion, it just looks washed out and bland overall. But the magic is in the style swap. Swap it with a brown leather strap for a more classy aesthetic. REASON #2: FUNCTIONAL Being an automatic watch, the Seiko 5 doesn't need a battery. The watch gets its energy from your body's movement which is what I feel makes mechanical watches like this special. To see the movement and feel the ticking on your wrist, it's a quality that a quartz or digital watch can't match. Additionally, the lume is quite luminous, but not overly bright. And since the Seiko 5 is a military-inspired field watch, with a military heritage, it makes sense that it would have a lume that's easily visible in the field, while not being distracting, like say a Timex Indiglo, for example. REASON #3: HERITAGE I like that the Seiko 5 plays a big role in Seiko's history, and Seiko is world-renowned as a reputable watch maker that crafts quality timepieces that are worn by young and old, rich and poor alike. It's a point of pride when you can wear a time piece that's well respected and has a storied history well before you were born. REASON #4: AFFORDABLE Point blank, the Seiko 5 is super affordable for the quality you're getting. Coming in at under $100, you can find the Seiko 5 anywhere from $40-$80 depending on the time of year you pick it up. The highly affordable price point makes the Seiko 5 the best bang for your buck watch on the market. REASON #5: DURABLE The watch can just straight up take a beating. I'll take one from Timex and say that this watch has taken a lickin' and keeps on ticking. I've had it for 5 years and it's been through the ringer. I banged it on railings, dropped it, had it dipped in water and it's still going strong. The scratches that it does have on the matte finish bezel just adds a bit of character to it I think. BONUS REASONS 1) Minimal Dial I love the minimal nature of the dial. It comes in at 37mm, which is flattering for more modest wrists like mine. 2) Day-Date Complication The Seiko 5 comes with a classic day-date complication that's easy to read and doesn't add any clutter, which is quite a feat. 3) Matte Finish Bezel Something about the Seiko 5's bead blasted, matte finish bezel is so aesthetically pleasing. And I prefer it over the shiny chrome appearance of the Timex Weekender. 4) First Love As I mentioned in the beginning, the Seiko 5 was my very first automatic watch and you know what they say about firsts. - - - - - - - - - - - FTC: This video is not sponsored.
