ADN mitocondrial 🧬
In this video, Crisal, our biology teacher, explains what mitochondrial DNA is. Mitochondrial DNA is the circular chromosome found within cell organelles called mitochondria. Mitochondria are located in the cytoplasm and are the site of energy production and other metabolic functions of the cell. This is very useful in tracing a genetic lineage, since the mitochondrial DNA of a mother and her children will be identical. In fact, it would be possible to trace mitochondrial DNA back to a common ancestor of all humans, the so-called Mitochondrial Eve.
