EA Sports NHL '96 - All-star Exhibition EAS 0 v WAS 7 | The Western All-stars Dominate the East

In a bit of fun game, the Western All-stars hosted the Eastern All-stars in San Jose. The 1st period was a bit of a pockety-pick, break-a-da-flow affair with only one goal. On the EAS's first shot of the game Chris Chelios put one tight to the post half-way up on the backhand from beside the net off a sweet pass from Dave Gagner who baited the defense from the other side of the net. That broke the shut-out bid by Dominik Hasek. At the 1st intermission the shots were WAS 15 and the EAS 9. About three minutes into the 2nd period Sergei Federov scored from the side of the net with a backhand right along the ice tight to the post on the powerplay off a great backhand pass from the opposite circle by Thereon Fleury. That got the West into the comfort zone. Less than a minute later the West had the coveted 3-goal lead at 3-0 when Sergei Federov went top-glove from between the hashes off a short pass from Chris Chelios. The East steadied the ship after that but only managed 4 shots on Ed Belfour in the period. The West ended the period with a late goal scoring with only 19,2 seconds left. Theoren Fleury took a hard shot down low on his wing that Dominik Hasek couldn't hold on to and it caromed in after the save, Chris Chelios with the assist. Dominik Hasek left the game after that and Martin Brodeur came in. Shots at the 2nd intermission were WAS 36 and the EAS 13. Brodeur was hard to beat but eight-and-a-half minutes in Sergei Federov completed his hat-trick and welcomed Brodeur to the party when he went top-glove from right in front off a pass from Chris Chelios almost in the corner after he made a good steal near the boards. Once again Federov showed a great nose for the net. Right at the mid-point of the period Dave Gagner beat Martin Brodeur top-glove from between the hashes off a pass from Sergei Federov. Two shots later and Dave Gagner had a tap-in past a sprawling Martin Brodeur after Segei Federov circled the net and fed the puck across the crease to Gagner. The duo had two goals in ninety seconds and 3 goals in 4 shots to close the scoring and give the West the win at 7-0. Ed Belfour had a 20-save shut-out for the West in the net. Enjoy!
