We Turned Back Just 56 KM Before Gangotri | Delhi to Gangotri by Car

We started this road trip from Delhi with one goal to reach Gangotri. ❤️ At around 10:30 PM, we left home, picked up Arun and Sunil, and began our mountain journey in my Skoda Slavia. On the way, I dropped my wife and son at Muradnagar, and from there our real road trip officially began. Because of the Char Dham Yatra rush, traffic started building right from the highways. Crowded dhabas, endless buses, travellers everywhere, and slowly the peaceful mountain drive started turning into a challenging journey. We crossed Rishikesh early morning with the first sunlight and continued towards Gangotri through the beautiful roads of Uttarakhand. The mountains, Bhagirathi river, cold winds, waterfalls, and scenic views made the journey unforgettable. But then came the toughest part of the trip… Gangotri was only 56 KM away, yet we were stuck at the same point in traffic for almost 2 hours. Since Sunil is an advocate and had important court cases scheduled for Monday, returning to Delhi by Sunday night became extremely important. And finally, after a long discussion, we made a difficult decision… We took a U-turn just 56 KM before Gangotri. 😔 Honestly, it felt disappointing at that moment. After travelling so far, returning without reaching the destination was not easy. But maybe the mountains had different plans for us. Later, we stayed in a peaceful village called Maneri, right in front of the beautiful Bhagirathi river and somehow that unexpected stop became one of the most memorable parts of the journey.
