Mehmet Büyükalkan Efendi, also known as Sarı Emmi from Eğiste He was born in 1317/1901 in the village of Eğiste in Hadim. He was orphaned at the age of thirteen, the eldest of four brothers, when his father, Mehmet Efendi, was martyred in the army. He and his wife, Ayşe Ana, raised their orphaned children with meager means. From his marriage to Emine Hanım, his only surviving child, Mehmet Efendi, was born. In 1930, he and his wife became disciples of Esad Erbilî Efendi, attending the school of wisdom for those on the path of spirituality. Sarı Emmi was known for his unique style of engaging and insightful conversations. His value among his admirers stemmed from this. A man of noble character, Sarı Emmi lived a modest but enviable life. His politeness, grace, and exemplary life earned him many admirers from all walks of life. He underwent surgery due to a severe relapse of his prostate problems. Following a successful operation, his condition changed in the following days, and this illness led to his death. Sarı Emmi, who passed away in 1985 at the age of 83, was buried in Hacı Fettah Cemetery. His tombstone inscription reads: The unfading rose of the Naqshbandi path, the Khalidiya branch, the garden of truth, Sarı Emmi. May his soul rest in peace. D: 1317 D: 24-01-1985
