Weardale Works (Blue Circle Cement Works) LaFarge. Eastgate.
Filmed in late Autumn 2019 capturing the beauty of the area surrounding Eastgate quarry and the River Wear around the site of the former Blue Circle cement works (LaFarge). Opened in the mid 1960's the quarry was in operation mining limestone and shale for the production of cement until it's closure in 2002. The video shows the remains of the conveyor bridge which transported the limestone and shale from the quarry high above the site, down the hill and over the River Wear into the works. Cement was moved by rail along what is now the line used by the Weardale Railway from Stanhope to Bishop Auckland. The rail connectiopn and cement trains stopped running from here in 1993 Filmed using #dji #mavic2zoom
