My New Drum Carder Carding Icelandic Wool for Spinning Tour de Fleece

Prep for Tour de Fleece! Turning raw Icelandic wool into roving with my new drum carder. Welcome back to Life Raising Sheep! We are in the final countdown for Tour de Fleece, and today I’m tackling one of my favorite parts of the process: carding. Watch as I transform fluffy, washed Icelandic fleece into smooth, airy roving that's ready for the spinning wheel. I’m putting my new motorized Brother Drum Carder to the test with several different natural colors from our flock, including a beautiful Morat gray and a rich chocolate brown from Gia. I’ll also share some tips on "floofing" your wool for the best results and how I handle challenges like scurf and dander. In this video: My first impressions of the Brother Drum Carder. Step-by-step carding of Icelandic fleece. How to pull off roving using a DIY diz. Experimenting with blending black and white fibers. Prepping my "rainbow" of natural sheep colors for the big spinning challenge. Are you participating in Tour de Fleece this year? Let me know in the comments, and I’d love your fiber-related audiobook suggestions for my spinning sessions!
