Commodore 1541 disk drive failed repair attempt: R/W head damaged.
Commodore 1541 (S/N BA4125007) with some problems, dirty ROM sockets, wrong IC on position UD1 and bad R/W head. With a failed head, the best option is almost always to find a suitable mechanic and replace it entirely. It's interesting to note that the wrong chip (74LS00) had a date code compatible with the other chips on the PCB.
