Solo Rock Fishing – Remote Cliff Camping, Eating What I Catch

I hiked out to a remote cliff on the wild South Coast of Western Australia to spend a night on the rocks. The plan was simple: find a ledge to fish and camp, catch my dinner, and cook it over the fire. This spot took a big effort to reach — heavy pack, long hike, and some sketchy terrain right along the edge of huge cliffs. But that’s what makes these trips special: the challenge, the isolation, and the reward of living simply. I had fun fighting some Salmon moving through and managed a couple of quality Breaksea Cod — perfect for a fresh catch & cook on the coals. So I set up camp, lit a fire, and enjoyed some fresh‑caught fish after fishing into the afternoon. Trips like this remind me why I love the WA coastline. Just the ocean, the cliffs, and the satisfaction of catching and cooking your own food in a wild place. Even though the mosquitoes were terrible when fishing the next morning.
