Building a Custom Neuroimaging DICOM Viewer: MRI, AI Segmentation Overlays, and 3D

Many teams don’t just need a generic DICOM viewer. They need a custom workflow where MRI scans, AI segmentation outputs, 3D visualization, measurements, annotations, and planning tools all work together in one interface. In this video, I show a web-based DICOM viewer workflow for neuroimaging using a brain MRI scan. The demo covers MPR viewing, AI-generated segmentation overlays, NIfTI/DICOM SEG outputs, 3D rendering, structure visualization, crosshair navigation, measurements, and clinical annotations. This type of workflow is useful for teams building custom neuroimaging viewers, AI-assisted segmentation workflows, presurgical planning tools, research platforms, or white-labeled medical imaging products. The key idea: the AI model does not need to live inside the viewer. The AI pipeline can run separately, generate segmentation outputs, and the viewer becomes the interface where clinicians can visualize, validate, measure, and interact with those outputs.
