Small Stream Fly Fishing for Trout Scotland | Pheasant Tail Nymph | Flies for Trout | Trout Fishing

In this video, I introduce my version of the pheasant tail nymph, one of my BEST flies for trout, and show it to some hungry wild brownies. Fortunately they love it almost as much as I do! If the water is low and the temperatures are high, tributaries are often the BEST places to focus your energy when trout fishing. The morning I filmed this video, the bigger rivers were down to their bones. But the water in this valley was cold and I was able to find trout (and a grayling!) feeding in the deeper oxygenated parts of the stream. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that fly fishing for trout is adapting your approach to the conditions. This us much more important than having expensive gear and casting sexy loops!
