monsuta li tan mi – Toki Pona

Please read the description / o lukin e lipu lon anpa sitelen tawa [ENGLISH]: This inspirational scene is from the movie "Akeelah and the Bee" (2006). I added subtitles in Toki Pona (an interesting challenge as it forces you to stay minimal and brief). The movie tells the story of a young girl who participates in a spelling contest. I have not seen the movie, but stumbled upon this clip as I was translating the poem "Our Deepest Fear" by Marianne Williamson. The motivational quote read by the girl is a sample of it. Below is the whole poem both in its original English and then here's my translation of it in Toki Pona: Our Deepest Fear (By Marianne Williamson) Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness That most frightens us. We ask ourselves Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, As children do. We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others. _________________ [TOKI PONA]: ni li kipisi tan sitelen tawa "Akeelah and the Bee" (tenpo suno sike 2006). mi namako e sitelen anpa lon toki pona. mi lukin ala e sitelen tawa. mi alasa e kipisi ni tan ni: mi ante toki e lipu sewi "Our Deepest Fear" tan jan Marianne Williamson. kipisi ni la, jan lili li toki kalama e kipisi tan ona. ante toki mi pi lipu ale li ni: monsuta nanpa wan (tan jan Malian Wilanson) pilin monsuta nanpa wan pi mi ale. ona li ni ala: kepeken mi li ala. ona li ni: mi wawa pi mute sewi. ona li pimeja mi ala. ona li suno mi. mi ale li wile sona. mi pi tan seme li jan sona, li pona lukin, li ken pali, li epiku? lon la, sina pi tan seme o ken ala a? sewi li mama sina. sina nasin e lili la, ni li pona ala e ma. kama lili li sewi ala tawa ni: jan ante li pilin awen lon poka sina. kon pi mi ale li wile suno, sama jan lili. mi kama lon tawa ni: o pana e wawa sewi pi insa mi. ona li lon ala insa pi mi lili taso; ona li lon insa pi jan ale. mi open e suno mi la, kepeken sona ala la, mi pana e ken sama tawa jan ante. mi weka e monsuta mi la, kepeken lon mi taso la, mi ken e jan ante.
