There is a fear that Russia will mobilize. That would make 500,000 extra troops available. Is that an immediate problem for Ukraine? I think it won't be that bad. In recent years, Russia has only trained its soldiers in small numbers. After a week, most of them were already at the front. The question is also how many actual trainers are still available in Russia. Professional soldiers have pretty much run out of steam after more than four years of wasteful warfare. Russia has to pull those 500,000 men away from their jobs, which will also hit the economy hard. Then they need to be provided with equipment and receive some training. That needs to be more than just "this is the stock, that is the barrel, and here is the trigger; hold your rifle the other way around!" Russia cannot even properly train 30,000 civilians per month to become soldiers right now. Would that be possible with 500,000 soldiers? In doing so, the Russian government runs the risk of increasing discontent regarding the war among the population. The reorganization of the Ukrainian armed forces is being vigorously pursued.
