This is a digitization of the second of three VHS documentaries on Euclid Beach Park (an amusement park that operated from 1895 to 1969 in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio) by Chuck Russell, Tim Young, and Stephen Kelleher. ABOUT THE FILM MAKER Today, there are few people alive with more knowledge of Euclid Beach Park than Chuck Russell. Making his first visit to the park in 1946 at the age of four, Chuck began a forty-seven year love affair with Euclid Beach Park. Through his production of Euclid Beach I and its sequel, Euclid Beach II - Gone Too Soon, Chuck has made it possible for generations of park fans to relive the carefree days of their youth. As you watch Chuck's video mastery, close your eyes and you can almost feel those cool Lake Erie breezes and smell the popcorn balls and hot oil on the tracks of the Thriller. Chuck was born in 1942 to Charles J. and Betty Russell of Canton, Ohio. His interest in film making developed at a very early age. When Chuck was nine years old he received his first projector and by the time he was 12 he was taking his own 8mm movies at Euclid Beach Park. In 1963, Chuck married Darlene Zwick. His interest in both Euclid Beach and film making continued for the next 30 years, culminating in the creation of his first video production on Euclid Beach, along with films on five other American amusement parks.
