Living in the Azores: DIY project on our São Miguel island property! Join Andrei and me as we tackle a big cement project with the help of our amazing neighbors and family. This week on the channel, Andrei and I had a massive delivery of construction materials arrive for our latest DIY project. Because our land is located a bit of a distance from the house, moving everything up to the garden seemed like a daunting task—but that’s the beauty of living here in the Azores! We are so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors who jumped in to help us carry the materials, saving us so much time and energy. Our project really became a family and community affair when my sister and her family brought over the machinery we needed to mix the cement. It was a busy, productive couple of days, and we honestly couldn't have finished the cement pad without everyone’s hard work. Of course, keeping everyone fed was a priority, so I made sure we had plenty of snacks and a big lunch ready to fuel the crew. To wrap it all up, some friends dropped by with a much-needed dessert, and even our neighbor from the next property over stopped by to offer helpful advice and lend a hand. It truly takes a village, and I’m so happy to see the project finished!
