More than ten thousand people are homeless throughout Rio Grande do Sul due to flooding, and this number could rise even further. Experts say that rivers are expected to reach their maximum levels between tomorrow (1st) and Wednesday (2). The Rio Grande do Sul Civil Defense has issued two "very high risk" flood alerts for different regions of the state. One for the Caí River and another for the Uruguai River, on the western border, in São Borja. Eldorado do Sul is the city with the largest number of residents who had to leave their homes during the flooding. Around 300 people were taken to a shelter, which operates in a gymnasium.
