Efficient Cut and Fill Process (Can be copied on smaller scale)

Cutting and filling is a common practice in the dirt world. Almost all sites need leveled up and doing it efficiently can make a company money. Moving the material one time and one time only is key. This takes proper planning and a good strategy. If the distance is short, a dozer or two is a good option to move the material. If the material is fine, pans might work well. For larger distances and harder material, a combination of excavators, haul trucks, dozers, and compactors will be needed. A large excavator is typically set up on a bench in the cut area. The excavator will load some form of haul truck. Articulated trucks are the most common, but rigid frame, or even over-the-road trucks can be used. The material is transported across the site via designated haul roads and dumped in the fill area. A dozer is then typically used to spread out the material, placing it in lifts. A roller then compacts the material to remove air pockets and prevent settling. A seasoned crew can make this whole process look almost effortless and move very large quantities of material daily. This same process can be copied on a much smaller scale even if with compact equipment.
